Gelish Magneto - Better than anticipated!

The full range of Magneto Gelish Polish arrived yesterday. We couldn't wait to try it and it exceeded expectations! We've tested it briefly on samples, and Fran Hill volunteered to be our first guinea pig! The range is beautiful, and the effects are easy to create and result in some really interesting effects. Sunday is our training day when we will be trying as many variations as we can, so check back here to see how we get on.

Homemade Hair Detangler Spray

If you have tangly hair, here’s a simple way to make Homemade Hair Detangler!

Fill a small spray bottle with 1 cup hot water
Add 1/8 cup conditioner
Spray it on… leave it in,and that’s it!

Anti Frizz Serum Recipe for Hair

Ingredients
4 ounces Camellia Oil
1/2 ounce Castor Oil
1/2 ounce Unrefined Avocado Oil
25 drops Essential oils for scent
Choose a natural, organic essential oil according to the healing properties desired. Use myrrh or peppermint for dry hair, lavender or rose oil for fine hair to normal hair, or add lemon or chamomile for golden highlights. Avoid using synthetic oils.

Combine all ingredients in a DARK GLASS bottle (sunlight is damaging to all oil types). Shake well before each use
To Use: Apply a small amount to damp hair before blowdrying or apply a very small amount to dry hair for smoothing and shine.

Just as we exfoliate our body and face, we also need to remember to exfoliate our lips. Exfoliating your lips will keep them kiss-ably smooth. But why pay for an lip scrub when you can do it your self. Here are 3 do it yourself options that I've tried that work just as well as any lip scrub you buy.

Option 1: DIY Lip Scrubber
Materials: Washcloth, Soft Bristled Tooth Brush, & Vaseline

Step 1: Take a warm soaked wash cloth and place it on your lips. Keep it on your lips until they become soft.
Step 2: Put a little Vaseline on the tooth brush and gentle scrub your lips in a circular motion.
Step 3: Gently wipe off you lips with the washcloth and apply a lip balm (i.e. EOS, Carmax, etc.)

Option 2: Sugar Scrub
Materials: Vaseline, Sugar, Teaspoon, Small Container

Step 1: In a microwave safe container heat a teaspoon of Vaseline for approx. 20 sec or until it becomes soft enough to stir.
Step 2: And a teaspoon of sugar to the Vaseline and stir well.
Step 3: Apply your sugar scrub to your lips in a circular motion.
Step 4: Gently wipe off the sugar from your lips ( or lick it off) and apply a lip balm of your choice.

Option 3: Natural Sugar Scrub
This option is similar to option 2 but with natural ingredients.
Materials: Teaspoon, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Honey, Sugar, Small Container

Step 1: Using the teaspoon, mix equal parts olive oil, honey, and sugar in a small container.
Step 2: Follow the instructions from option 2 steps 3 & 4

A Warmer for these Frosty Days!

How to make a fantastic warmer to serve at a winter party. Or even just for one.

Chilli hot chocolate.
I think this is a waitrose recipe originally. It's a litre and a bit of milk, 2 red chillies, 200g of Plain Chocolate (smooshed up), 200ml single. cream. Heat the milk in a saucepan. You slice the chilli so that you can deseed it, but leave the stalk on so you can pull it out again. Bring to a gentle simmer and then leave to cool (and infuse) for 10 mins. Start to reheat, disolve in the broken chocolate and cream, stirring with a spoon. Take out the chilli and there you have it! Serve in 8 or so mugs to your guests, or take in a thermos to fireworks night!

Flaxseed oil capsules are amazing. I'm usually cynical when I read stuff about health supplements but they were cheap at my local health food shop so I thought what the heck and I bought them. Rejected coins
If a ticket or vending machine rejects your coin try wetting it, the machine will probably accept it. Don't lick it!

Grease Stains
If you get a grease stain on your clothes and don't put it straight in the wash, sprinkle some talcum powder on it and leave it overnight. In the morning rub it out with a towel and the stain will be gone.

Firelighters
Instead of buying firelighters, keep the cardboard tubes from loo rolls and fill them with crumpled newspaper. Let the paper protrude out of the ends then light both ends.

Watering Seeds
To water delicate seeds without disturbing them, gently squeeze water from a cotton wool ball.

Cream Crackers
To prevent cream crackers breaking when you spread them with butter or cheese, place them on a slice of bread as a cushion....(Lorraine; ha ha I think this one is funny! A little cream cracker pillow)

Cleverly Useful / If you get yellow nails after wearing dark polish, try scrubbing your toenails with a nail brush and whitening toothpaste. It gets rid of the yellow color.

Quick Frothy Coffee

You needn't use lots of milk! To make a lovely frothy coffee, put a teaspoon of instant coffee in a mug, half fill with hot water, then shake your semi skimmed milk vigorously , put in the required amount then top up with hot water.

Hot, frothy coffees are delicious, visually appealing beverages with which to begin your morning. Frothy coffees are ones with frothed milk on the top, giving them a foamy appearance. While milk frothers and fancy coffee machines are available for sale, they require investing a considerable amount of money and counter space. Making a frothy milk topping for your coffee at home is simple and inexpensive -- and it requires no special equipment.

Difficulty:: Moderate

Instructions

Prepared coffee (drip or instant)
Fresh milk
Microwave oven
Jar with lid

Suggest Edits

  Prepare drip or instant coffee according to directions.

  Fill the jar with the amount of milk you normally put in your coffee. The jar should not be more than halfway full.

  Screw the lid on the jar and vigorously shake it for approximately 30 seconds, until the milk has increased in volume and appears frothy.

  Remove the lid and microwave the jar for 30 seconds. The heat works to stabilize the milk as the foam rises.

  Using a spoon to restrain the foam, pour the hot milk into the prepared coffee. Spoon the remaining foam onto the top of the coffee.

Spray a short burst of fly killer onto the tick and it will die and drop off taking its head with it. If the tick is near the eyes, spray onto fingertips and apply to the tick.
